2003 Counselors

Kristin Bowles

Kristin is a biology major from Oklahoma Christian. Her emphasis is on pre-med. She was a Blue Haven camper in 2000 and 2001. In 2002 she worked as a kitchen helper for one session. She has been a counselor in two other camps and has worked with Special Olympics, Bible classes and VBS. Kristin is kind hearted, caring, considerate, likes to laugh and have fun.

Deborah Koctar

Deborah was a seven year camper at CBH. She is a student at ACU and working toward an element- ary education degree. In 2001, Deborah was a kitchen helper. Last summer, she was a cook. She has worked as a day camp counselor for two summers. Deborah loves CBH, has a willingness to serve, and recognizes the challenge of being a camp counselor.

Meredith Massie

Meredith has a long history with CBH. Her parents have been teachers in sixth session for almost 20 years. She was a nine year camper, and was a kitchen worker in 2000. She will receive her degree in Business Management and Marketing from ACU this semester. Meredith is outgoing, enthusiastic and an encourager. She is a friend to the  friendless and is anxious to serve. 

Melissa Meyer

Melissa is one of two girl counselors returning from last year. She was a five year camper at CBH. She began her college work at Frank Phillips JC, thinking she would seek a degree in nursing. Since transferring to West Texas A & M she has become an elementary education major. Melissa is a hard worker, devoted family member, and loves the Lord, horses, and rodeo competition.

Jennifer Norwood

Jennifer was an eight year camper at CBH. She assisted her mother in teaching a Bible class during last year's 5th session. She attends Texas Tech and is majoring in Ag. Communications. Jennifer has had much training and experience in leadership. She is involved in the campus ministry at Tech. Jennifer has powerful motivation to touch the lives of campers this summer.

Miriam Scott 

Mirm is from a family of devoted CBH campers and workers. Her parents are long-time teachers, and her father is a member of the board. Two sisters have been campers. One was a cook and one was a counselor. Mirm was a counselor last year. She attends Harding University and plans to be a teacher. She is very focused, attuned to the needs of others, and loves the Lord.

Kylie Webb

Kylie was an eight year camper at CBH, kitchen helper in 2001 and a cook in 2002. She attends ACU and is studying in England this semester. She was president of her high school student body, and was active in Girl Scouts and athletics. She has worked with children in Bible classes, VBS, Kids, Inc. and a pre-school program. Kylie has a positive attitude and is a team player.

Amy Williams

Amy was a six year camper at CBH, and has attended two other camps. She was a kitchen helper in 2001 and was dishroom manager in 2002. She is on the track team at ACU and wants to teach and coach, after graduate school. Amy is dedicated, hard working, loves people and loves the Lord and His church. She is a great encourager and sends lots of cards and notes.

 

Marty Baker

Marty was a five year camper at CBH. He has been active with the Seagoville church as a camp counselor and Bible class teacher. He attended Eastfield Community College and is now a youth/family major at LCU. Marty has a great love for CBH and for guiding young people. He is a leader, compassionate, energetic, and has a strong faith in the Lord.

Benjamin Bayles

Benjamin's Blue Haven roots run deep. His whole family, including an uncle and his grandparents have connections to camp. His father has been a counselor, a Bible class teacher, and board member. Ben was a nine year camper and a pot washer in 1997. He is working toward a degree in mechanical engineering at Texas A & M, and is active in the Aggies for Christ program. 

Eric Lyons

Eric was a three year camper at CBH and a volunteer worker in 2001. He is an art education major at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and is very active with the Bible chair. He was a counselor at Blue Haven last summer. Eric has many experiences to qualify him to help his campers. He is kind, compassionate, under- standing and has a servant heart.

Byron May

Byron was a nine year camper at CBH, and was a counselor in 2000 and 2001. His mother was a counselor in 1970 and 1972. He will graduate from ACU with a major in english/exercise science this semester. He is looking for a teaching/coaching position. Byron is a leader, loves to laugh, is very polite and is a great friend. He is innovative and will challenge his campers to excellence.

Marshall May

Marshall was a nine year camper at CBH and was assistant to the caretaker for two sessions last summer. He is studying Bible and Biology at LCU. His career goal is to be an orthodontist. He is a student of the Word and has been active in the youth program, has taught Bible classes, helped with Bible hour, and  participated in mission trips. Marshall is outgoing and a willing worker.

Josh Reid

Josh was a nine year camper at CBH and worked all last summer as an assistant to the caretaker. He is in his third semester at Texas Tech, with a semester at Texas A & M also. He plans a career in architecture. Josh has taught Bible classes, worked at a day care and volunteered at an elementary school. He is confident, cooperative, a hard worker, and has a compassionate heart.

Paul Ritter

Paul learned about CBH from fellow students at Texas A & M, where he is studying chemistry and business. He wants to do pharmaceutical research after graduation. Paul's camping experiences were at Camp Bandina. He has been active in 4-H and scouts. He served as a counselor at Blue Haven last summer. His experiences will help other counselors.

Quinn Tolbert

Quinn was a six year camper at CBH, and has leadership skills gained in scouts, Indian guides, and at Texas Boy's State. He has been on wilderness trek three times, Rotary youth training camp, and ACU Learning to Lead. Quinn is studying Industrial Distribution/Engineering, and is active in Aggies for Christ. Quinn has strong morals, and is an "out front" leader.
